Giving an Receiving Love

Our desire as souls is to love, and be loved, it’s one of the ultimate virtues to practice.
We can often associate the giving and receiving of love with romantic relationships, and forget that love exists in many other forms.
Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr shared 4 types of love:
Eros, a sort of esthetic or romantic love; philia, a sort of reciprocal love between personal friends; agape which is understanding goodwill for all people. It is an overflowing love which seeks nothing in return.
There is a strength in having caring relationships with others, valuing close relationships, and wanting to contribute to making theses relationships thrive.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the principles of relationships - whether that's friendship, professional, or romantic. I believe these are necessary for making any relationship thrive, not just merely survive.
Trust, openness, honesty, compromise, compassion. These are key to making any relationship flourish.
May we share love with those who want to give it as much as receive it.
