Give Thanks for Life

As the season of gratitude and reflection gets underway, I am filled with appreciation of the kindness of both loved ones and strangers alike.

My personal life has been very challenging over the past few months and I've had to find ways to wade through the mud. Alongside this experience, world events have left me feeling devastated. I've found glimmers of hope, joy and love as I've sung, danced and marched alongside those who feel the same, and connecting to a whole new body of people. I've cried in the arms of random people when a ceasefire was not voted for in Parliament. I've had people I've met only briefly come to my aid when I needed to urgently leave my home. For all of these experiences I am grateful.

Gratitude has been part of my personal spiritual and wellbeing practice for 7 years. I've travelled through the darkest of times by using this simple method of naming the things that I’ve been grateful for during the day. l I invite you to take a moment to reflect on your personal journey so far this year and consider what you would like to give thanks for.

Maybe you'd like to spend a few moments at bed time thinking over your day and noticing who or what you are feeling grateful for. Give it a go tonight?
